Original tensioner for the GM54/M65 gas mask. Post-war production for the Bundeswehr, primarily from the 1960s. The tensioner is made of a steel spring and aluminum form molds. The spring tightens the mask so that it does not deform during long-term storage. The tensioners were used when the mask was stored outside the container, i.e. most often when soldiers were in barracks. This model is derived directly from the World War II model. It differs in the spring attachment to the mask molds (the World War II version was attached with rivets) and the spring length itself. The tensioner also fits the World War II gas mask model.

- The last photos shows the mask tensioner used on the original mask (mask is not part of the offer).
FOR REENACTMENT?
Gas Mask Tensioners were used in the German Army throughout World War II. They helped maintain the correct shape of the mask during long-term storage. During combat operations, the tensioner was removed and the mask stored in canisters or cases with personal equipment.
