The Driver’s Proficiency Badge was an important award in the German military during WW2. Recognising skill and dedication, the badge was issued in three grades – bronze, silver and gold – each corresponding to the type and length of service. The requirements for earning the reward were vehicle dependent; for example, dispatch riders had a shorter service requirement than truck drivers, but all recipients were expected to demonstrate their proficiency, and provide good upkeep, with their vehicles.
