FOR REENACTMENT?

The M1C helmet was developed as a successor to the M2 parachute helmet and entered service at the end of World War II. It differed from the standard infantry version (M1) mainly in modifications to the liner and chinstraps, adapted to the needs of paratroopers. And from the M2 helmet, by use of swivel bales, replacing the previous fixed D-type bales. Although the M1C helmet has officially appered in the quartermaster list in January 1945, these helmets could be seen in use already during Operation Market-Garden. It was used by American parachute units, including the famed 101st Airborne Division.
