A replica of the Jungle Hat, 2nd pattern, popularly known as the "Boonie Hat". This hat is made of rip-stop cotton fabric in an olive green color. It features four vents at the top for improved ventilation on hot days. It is trimmed with a cotton ribbon used to attach vegetation for camouflage purposes. It also features an adjustable chin strap.

The Tropical Combat Hat program was initiated in 1966. After field testing with the 1st Cavalry Division and modifications, the first pattern, designated as the "Jungle Hat with Headnet," was implemented to service in 1967. The second pattern, in which replaced the poplin fabric with a rip-stop weave, appeared shortly thereafter. Within a relatively short time, the hats became a popular uniform element for US forces operating in the Southeast Asian and Pacific theater at that time. Later they became a standard part of a soldier's equipment.
