A replica of the American wool sweater, commonly known as the "High Neck Sweater". Knitted from wool and acrylic fibers in Olive Drab, it fastens with five buttons. The high collar is finished in a V-shaped front.
In the fall of 1942, the US Army began work on a versatile, year-round combat uniform based on the principle of layered clothing. The high-necked sweater was one of the items to be tested as part of the new M-1943 combat uniform. After testing was completed in 1943, the sweater took a key place in the layering system of the new field uniform, which was ultimately adopted as the M43. In this layering system, the sweater was worn over a wool shirt and under a proper jacket (depending on weather conditions, this could be an M43 blouse, wool winter jacket, or overcoat).

Sweaters of this type have been used in the US Army since 1943, replacing all previous models. The sweater proved so successful that, with minimal modifications, it remained in production for the US Army until the 1990s.
