FOR REENACTMENT?
The SS officer's broadsword is an honorary melee weapon used by Schutzstaffel officers in the Third Reich. It is a simple sword (broadsword), officially called the SS-Ehrendegen (SS Honorary Sword) or simply the SS-Degen. Introduced in 1935, this weapon constituted one of the most important distinctions within the SS. The sword was designed by Professor Karl Diebitsch, a close advisor to Heinrich Himmler on art and design within the SS.
