The MP 44 automatic rifle were produced from June 1944, and they were modified version of MP 43/1. In December, on orders from Adolf Hitler, the weapon was renamed, designating it as the Sturmgewehr 44 - assault rifle 44. With such name weapon used by the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS until the end of World War II, as well as by various partisan units throughout Europe.
