FOR REENACTMENT?
These types of grenades were introduced into service with the German Army in 1939. They were a development of the standard M24 stick grenade. The Nb. Hgr. 39 smoke grenades had distinct differences in markings and shaft shape compared to M24 combat grenades. This was dictated by safety considerations. This allowed the user to quickly identify the grenade, even in conditions of zero visibility.
