A replica of an Austro-Hungarian hand grenade. The replica is made of steel in the form of a hollow cylinder, with a welded hook made of an appropriately formed rod. The head is glued to a handle made of a wooden tube covered with paper to protect the handle. At the end is a removable wooden plug (finished similarly to the handle itself), under which lies a jute string imitating the pull cord for the fuse (the string is attached; pulling forcefully may break it). The whole thing is complemented by a card with short operating and safety instructions stuck to the grenade's handle. The replica offered does not contain any explosives and is empty inside.

  • New, unused item!
  • The replica is made of steel and wood!
  • Dimensions: 33 cm x 5 cm.
  • Weight: around 800 g.

FOR REENACTMENT?

These grenades were used by the Austro-Hungarian Army throughout World War I. A characteristic feature of Austro-Hungarian grenades was their very simple, "industrial" appearance. Their design was extremely simplified, allowing for production even in front-line conditions. For technological and cost reasons, they used simple friction-type time fuses, which were highly unreliable and posed a risk even to the user.
