The Pertrix 685 flashlight (often also referred to as the Varta Pertrix 685) is a classic German-made military and signal flashlight. Its robust, khaki-colored metal housing is designed for use in harsh field conditions. The flashlight is equipped with two sliding filters that allow the light to be changed to red or green. Combining both filters produces a color close to brown, used for special signaling purposes. It also features a sliding inner cover that completely obscures the reflector. This model is designed to be powered by two D (R20) batteries. The flashlight features a rotary switch that also serves as a button for transmitting Morse code signals. It also offers a "moonlight" mode, a very dim light for discreet map reading. It also comes with a leather strap that allows the flashlight to be attached to a button on a uniform, jacket, or belt, allowing for hands-free operation.

FOR REENACTMENT?
These flashlights were produced after World War II, primarily in the 1960s. They were standard equipment for the Bundeswehr (German Army) and other services, such as the fire department and railways. Most models offered bear markings from the batch produced for Denmark (Crown Mark and CF). This flashlight model strongly resembles German flashlights from World War II, making it an ideal addition to the figure of a German soldier from that period.
