The Tank Assault Badge in silver rank was established on 20th December 20, 1939 by Generaloberst von Brauchitsch. Bronze badge was established on 1st July 1940. Like the silver, the bronze badge was awarded for participating in at least three assault operations on three different days on the front line - but the bronze badge was given to soldiers of armored units other than tank crews (panzer grenadiers, motorcycle scouts, etc.)
