A replica of the Austro-Hungarian Berndorfer M17 helmet. The helmet shell is made of metal. The internal structure of the helmet is based on three main elements: a rim attached to the helmet shell, a system of shock-absorbing pads, and a liner. The pads are made of leather and have a pocket for filling. To adjust the helmet to your head circumference, simply fill the pockets in the pads to a greater or lesser extent (cotton wool, fabric scraps, or even grass can be used). The liner is made of wide cotton tape. A clamping buckle allows for smooth and extensive adjustment of the chinstrap length.

  • Perfect for reenactment!
  • New, unused item!
  • One size fits all!
  • Leather lining!

FOR REENACTMENT?

The Berndorfer M17 helmet was an original design by Berndorfer Metallwarenfabrik Arthur Krupp A.G. Due to technological limitations, they created a helmet with a unique geometry. Production of the Berndorfer helmet lasted only a few months – from May to November 1917. It was halted because Austria-Hungary finally standardized production and switched to the cheaper and easier-to-mass-produce Stahlhelm M17 model (a faithful copy of the German M16 helmet). Only about 140,000 were produced.
