A faithful replica of the M1941 canteen cover – cavalry/paratrooper version. Made of khaki cotton fabric (OD3). The cover is essentially the same as the infantry version, with the difference that the metal hook used to attach it to pistol and ammunition belts is reinforced with 5/8-inch webbing at the top and bottom. The way the tape is sewn creates a loop that allows the cover to be worn on a regular belt or attached to equipment without the need to use a hook to attach it to the mounting eyelets. Additionally, the set includes an adjustable, removable strap with a hook.
- A faithful replica!
- New, unused item!
FOR REENACTMENT?
This type of cover was used by the US Army during World War II. Originally designed for the cavalry, this cover became closely associated with airborne troops. In fact, its official name in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Catalog is "Cover, Canteen, M1941, Mounted."
