A replica of the American M28 Haversack backpack. This backpack is made of thick cotton canvas in the OD3 color scheme, a characteristic color for American equipment produced in the mid-war period. It's not the classic, so-called baggy/closed design. Its construction consists of canvas flaps that literally "wrap" around the equipment being carried (clothing, food rations, toiletries). This arrangement, on the one hand, allows for full access to the contents (when the backpack is fully unfolded), but on the other, complicates the design and prevents the safe carrying of small items. The backpack features a very extensive harness system, designed to be attached directly to a combat belt. It has one closed pocket mounted on the backpack flap, designed for carrying a mess kit and cutlery. The backpack has two mounting eyelets sections on the flap, dedicated to a attach bayonet and an infantry shoulder blade cover.

FOR REENACTMENT?
This was the primary backpack of the United States Army infantry during World War II and the Korean War. It was a direct, slightly modified evolution of the M-1910 backpack used during World War I. It had a poor reputation among soldiers. It was considered complicated to pack and impractical in the field. Retrieving one item from the bottom often required disassembling and re-tying the entire backpack.
