The RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst – State Labor Service) dagger is one of the most distinctive and massive ceremonial melee weapons of the Third Reich. Unlike classic, slender military daggers, the basic RAD model was shaped like a heavy cleaver (German: Hauer). The choice of this shape was deliberately intended to refer to traditional work tools, which emphasized the working-class character of the formation.
