FOR REENACTMENT?
These sleeves were used in the Wehrmacht from 1943 until the end of the war. The Waffen-SS had its own fragmentation sleeve design, while Fallschirmjäger units used both designs. The fragmentation sleeve was introduced after German soldiers encountered Soviet RGD-33 grenades, which were often equipped with fragmentation sleeves, thus transforming the offensive grenade into a defensive grenade. Initial experience indicated the greater effectiveness of RGD-33 grenades equipped in this way. As a result, until the official introduction of own solution, RGD-33 grenade sleeves were modified in front-line conditions to fit M24 grenades.
