This type of attachment clip was first used with the M1956 Load-Carrying Equipment system, which entered service in the late 1950s. It was used in subsequent systems, such as the MLCE, ALICE, and IIFS, until the late 1990s, when the new MOLLE/PALS combat equipment system was implemented.
