FOR REENACTMENT?
Patches of this type were worn by soldiers from Sonderverband 287. A mixed German-Arab unit that, among other things, co-founded the "Free Arab Legion." The unit was formed on August 4, 1942, and operated until its surrender in Tunis in 1943. Theoretically, it was a single-battalion unit, but due to its extensive seven-company structure, over 2,000 men served in it.
